Water
plays a vital role in making the skin soft and smooth.
Moisturizers provide a protective film of water over
skin and also prevent the moisture loss of the skin.
It also helps speed up the process of cell renewal.
It must have the ingredients that supply vitamins, minerals
to the skin and boost the natural waterproofing of the
skin and soothe the skin by its natural surface oils.

Moisture
loss in the skin takes place due to exposure to sun,
dry wind, and living in air conditioned rooms etc. Moisture
is also preserving the skin from the climatic variations.
In dry skin, application of water alone is not the solution
and oil is equally essential to moisturize the skin.
Moisturizers are therefore combine water and oil and
classified in to two main type viz. oil-in-water
emulsions and water-in-oil emulsions. Apply
moisturizer to your hands and body as needed, immediately
after bathing. You may need to try several brands with
varying ingredients before you find one most suitable.

Generally
moisturizers are not used for oily skins because
they can cause spots. Today safe synthetic chemical
moisturizers are available with out containing
any mineral oil, vegetable oil or animal oil/fat
but adding either modified oils or synthetic ingredients
and such products can be used on oily skin.
