Hair
- Care |
|
Other
than face, we spend more time on our hair than any other
single feature of the body. Similar to skin on face,
hair on head is also classified as Normal, Oily, Dry,
and Combination Type. We should know our hair type to
select suitable hair care products.
Usually a normal skin
person possesses normal hair. Likewise a dry skin person
possesses dry hair and oily skin person possesses oily
hair. If you have oily skin and dry hair then you have
a combination hair. |

You
can find out the type of hair with the help of a tissue
paper as per the following procedure. Wash the hair
with shampoo a day before. Place a tissue paper on your
scalp and behind the ears. (Do not rub the tissue paper.)
If it has an oil blot, you have normal hair. If the
tissue paper shows nothing, it is dry. If strands stick
to each other then it is oily hair.
Normal Hair is the most ideal hair.
It is shiny yet not greasy, well balanced and does not
dry out and easy to maintain. It flies about a little
a day after the set but it soon settle down and look
good for long time. Wash once in 10 days with shampoo.
Do not rub the ends of the hair vigorously.

Oily
hair is due to the over secretion of
oil and it can be easily recognized. It needs
to be washed once in every 3 days and rinsed out
with lemon. It looks greasy even after shampooing
and attracts more dirt. Use oils and shampoos
rich in neem and henna. Add little
vinegar to the final rinsing water to leave the
hair very clean. A head massage
with an herbal oil helps maintain the pH
level of the scalp.

Dry
hair may be due to inactive oil glands, over
exposure to the sun or using strong shampoo. Also it
may happen due to blockage of the pores not allowing
the oil to flow on to the surface. Dry hair deserves
more care and nourishment. Massage well with warm herbal
oil at least twice a week. Use only a mild shampoo to
avoid further drying the scalp. If your hair tends to
fly away avoid using hair spray. Instead put a dab of
cream conditioner on your brush before styling your
hair. |

Combination
Hair is
usually fairy long and the hair near to scalp is greasy
while the ends are dry. Wash with mild shampoo as soon
as you feel your head itchy and dirty. Do not rub the
shampoo in to the dry ends. Instead, massaging with
shampoo in to head and let a little of it running through
the hair length. After wards, use the conditioner on
the hair ends only. |
